Crysis 2, no shadows for artificial light sources.

Hello clockers:

I did search the net before posting here, found people with a similar problem but no conclusions were reached in those topics. Since this is a very active and knowledgeable community decided to try with you guys.

Was playing at a friends house to check how it runs on his system, its an AMD card with the 11.8 catalyst drivers, he also uses some autoexec.cfg. The issue is that there are no shadows being generated from artificial light sources. On the other hand shadows generated by sunlight work fine.

Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks for any help.

My best suggestion would be to mess around with the config.ini file to disable and re-enable all shadows and see if it fixes that. You could also try adding something like "Disable_shadows 0" into the autoexec.cfg and see if it does anything. Also try reverting to previous drivers and see if it fixes the problem.

Just take note that AMD cards usually have problems with displaying shadows for some reason but i guess you could write to them for a suggestion on how to fix it.

But the shadows produced by the sun work perfectly. I think its a common issue more than people think, i saw guys posting pictures where the shadows from lamps are missing but they just don't realize it.

Then i guess the DX11 patch changed something that has got to do with how the engine renders shadows as seen in the features trailer:

You could probably get more help if you posted this in the crysis2forums though..since at 1:55 it clearly shows that the lighting is working fine.
