The right camera for my project?

Thread Starter
I am looking to get a camera for this winters snowboard season. Wondering if I should go dslr or camcorder. Looking to do follow cams, still shots, tripod mounted shots. Looking for real crisp quality hd footage. I have no real price limit just want to be lead in the right direction so any input would help.

define no real price limit.

and how far do you estimate you will be from the people. more than likely you are going to need something either with good reach on the built in lens. or if you go the route of interchangeable lens camera you might want to invest in a long telephoto zoom to get good shots.

i do live sports (football and basketball mainly) and field video work and i can suggest you something in the $45k+ range plus a decently nice HD lens that might be about an addition $35k with a built in 2X extender.

or you can go the DSLR route and invest in some nice long glass.

bout suggestions involve manual focus and manual exposure settings although the DSLR is able to record in auto mode
