SLI noob - Want to make sure I have my facts straight

Thread Starter
I'm planning on upgrading into my first SLI setup. I've done a bit of homework, and if someone can confirm somethings for me it would be appreciated.

You can find my setup in my sig.

I'm planning on upgrading my mobo to the Asus P8P67 Pro to support the SLI setup.

After that I'm going to buy a second evga Geforce 460 GTX.
At the moment I have a 460 GTX FTW (01G-P3-1377-TR), sadly these are no longer manufactured. So for my second card I'm going to get a normal evga 460 GTX (01G-P3-1370-TR). Both cards are the same except for clock settings. Now according to what info I've gotten, when I run both cards this will make the FTW card run at the slower settings of the normal card correct? Is there any other complications I should expect?

Also, from I can see, my 750W power supply should be enough to handle this upgrade. Looking over my system sig and adding the second card, does anyone see any issues?

Also thinking of OCing my CPU to 4 Ghz (It's been on my to do list for awhile, just been to lazy/busy to get around to it.)

I'm pretty sure I won't run into any issues, however, as when doing anything for the first time, there's a level of nervousness. Like to make sure all my bases are covered. So any advice people want to hand out would be greatly appreciated.

You shouldn't have any problems with any of your worries mentioned. Anti static yourself put gpu in bridge it boot up go to control panel enable Sli.

I'd overclock the "normal" 460 to match the 850 FTW clocks.

No problems though either way.

This. And your PSU will handle them without problems.

I just installed my second evga gtx 460 last night, sadly same situation the FTW was disc.

I got a P6969 on the 3dMark11

I mainly play Rift

Only problems I had to change was the Nivida Global Settings to SLI Rendering to Single Display, since it had it optimized for multi display, after that it actually felt like SLI was engaged... now I odn't think my monitor can keep up with my gpu, had to enable Vertical Sync.... but yeah I'm kinda upset it's a lower end card I installed not the FTW.. .but hopefully i'll be able to overclock. It does look beautiful.
