Thread Starter
My computer was working fine but I just installed my new cpu cooler ( had a stock intel cooler ) so I had to take out everything and start from scratch. I have a small form factor case and a mini itx. I put everything back together and it wont start. I see green light on my motherboard but wont start. I tried jump starting my computer but it wont start.

Please help
my specs are below

is your CPU 4/8 pin plug connected? the MOBO light will come on as long as the 24pin ATX connector is plugged in but it does not necessarily mean the your CPU power plug is connected also check your PCI-e power connections to your 6950.

Make sure everything is plugged in. Believe it or not, I have taken stuff out before and forgot to plug some psu wires back in because of the excitement. Doesn't sound anything like a part going bad. I am definitely betting something isn't plugged in

The backplate of the cooler seems to be slightly touching the chips behind the motherboard... is it possible theres a short? or is it okay?

is your CPU 4/8 pin plug connected? Yea I connected everything and double checked.

Reseat your ram, maybe? no idea

Sounds like something is being grounded/shorted out.

Also, if you put the cooler on too tight, I have seen that cause the issue too. Try to loosen it just a tad to see if that helps. It happened to me on my old 750i motherboard.

Your backplate must not make contact with any pins on the back.

Its being shortcuted. You can put some gray or some thick tape inbetween the two metals to avoid Shortcuting. That's what I did.

Good luck!

Not sure why a cpu cooler maker would design a backplate that would short a motherboard. Never had any problems with any of my metal backplates. I would try lossening it a little bit first.
