[Kotaku] Skyrim PC Requirements - Page 13

When you start rewriting core modules of the engine, that isn't really polishing. At least that's how Todd Howard makes it sound. The rendering engine comes to mind, which he says they changed entirely. That's a pretty big change, and they also said they changed the gameplay engine entirely. That could mean a lot of different things, but is also a core element of the experience.
I've watched every interview with Todd Howard since they announced Skyrim (several times XD). I can't help it, but Todd Howard is like Google logo, you can't be mad at the guy, he talks/looks cool, and just gives me hope about the end product. Yes, they've changed the engine big time. But nevertheless it is the same engine that's been crashy/buggy with every new game release. It's been kinda like stability test utility for overclockers. XD (Oblivion that is)

But then again, if they can do that and "get away" with it. It's understandable. Oblivion looked immensely better than morrowind, but to be honest even if there's a greater gap from morrowind to oblivion than there's from Oblivion to Skyrim, graphics haven't jumped all that far like when you compare former two, still animation is gorgeous. I also hope they will have some cool quests like in Oblivion (to go inside people mind), cool places (Shivering Isles) and 100+ hours of gameplay for dedicated folks. They've said 300+ but I can only hope, Bethesda is currently amongst top 3 game devs (alongside Bioware and Capcom (Atlus for smaller ones)) and unlike Capcom and Bioware they didn't betray the genre or platform like formentioned (DMC5/RES5 , ME2/DA2)... awful much.

Yeah, Todd Howard is really charismatic and comes across passionate and honest, slightly mesmerizing. You are right about the engine being buggy though, and I hope that they have ironed some of the annoying issues out with their refined engine.

I'm actually still playing Oblivion finishing up Shivering Isles at the moment. Is bad that my GTX275 SLI system seemed to stagger still when I tried to max out all the Nvidia Control Panel settings for the game

Isn't this it? Otherwise I wouldn't know.

jk. IMO if you enjoyed Elder Scrolls series even a little bit get Skyrim. If you haven't played any from the series, get Skyrim. If you think about getting Saints Row: The Third over Skyrim take a look over at TES Nexus where there are over 12k mods for Oblivion and then get Skyrim.
Saints row: The Third lets you pile drive a gang of luchadores wrestlers, gain super-powers related to what costume you wear, and you can raid a giant hover-carrier and control it.
Strangely enough it's a tough call for me. I'm thinking of preordering Saints Row and buying Skyrim a few weeks after release to see if it irons out the bugs it would probably come with (Not saying Saints Row won't, but it still has a preorder bonus that looks decent.) Biggest thing is if the Developers will up the coop/player limit for PC, thus I can get the group to play. If they don't, then I'll skip and go with Skyrim V.

Really, I'm just hoping for good optimization, day one patches and fixes in the future, and higher coop/player counts in multiplayer for the PC.
Don't you freakin' start that crap. It's TESV: Skyrim. Idiots already called TESIV: Oblivion "Oblivion IV". It's NOT "SKYRIM V".
