You sure the laptop won't overheat? We generally discourage GPU Folding on laptops...

Why not use your sig rig? It would put out pretty decent points per day.

I have an Asus G60-VX that has been folding for the last week + 24/7. It does get warm (90c or so) but I have it lifted and have put on some better paste.

GTX 260m FTW lol. Getting a whopping 4500 PPD or so from it.

Also folding on 1 core of the 2 from my E8435 that I installed in place of the P7450.

Man that thing does run warm though....

Well let me put it this way,

I actually run FAH6 on my Toshiba Core i5 430M 2.27 (2.53GHz Turbo)

The way I have it setup is for the advanced options I just do -smp ... That actually spools up the Turbo on the chip... Why? I have no clue.. because Turbo is only supposed to spool up if the program is using 2 threads... But it seriously works.

It finished a big WU today, in about 29 hours.... It runs a 90% CPU (So I can actually still use it) but the time also included having the program shut off for a couple hours here and there....

I dont know how it ran it so quick, but it did. So I'm happy with it, but it definitely works.

I run FAH on my A6-3400m

GPU folding is a waste of time, and in order for the 6520G to actually fold you need to add the force gpu r_700 flag anyways. Not the most efficient. About 10 min per percent on average.

I run a virtual machine lubuntu folding on all 4 cores. The only way to get the 3400m to run Turbo boost all the time is to edit p-states with k10stat. It is easily done, and undervolted too (this will help with temps). However depending on what laptop model you have, you still have to be careful. Turbo boost isn't inteded for full load anyways, only to speed up tasks when the cpu is well under TDP.

I did a full dissasemble to re-thermal paste the cpu and help with temps.

I run about 78C full load on smp. I haven't measured the PPD, but here was a preliminary run before I ran under the virtual machine:

X2

Laptop cooling is not designed for such stressful operations, and for a continuous length of time, you risk to severely shorten the life of your hardware.

Even running on one core on my laptop I would get 72C+
