2600k OC stuck at 4.4

Thread Starter
Rig is in my signature.

I'm new to Intel overclocking. And I'm stuck at 4.4Ghz. I didn't have to increase the voltage until I hit 4.4. My bios is the UEFI.

I did the following:

1. Disabled turbo and Intel SpeedStep Technology (I believe they are similar or one and the same?)

2. Changed CPU ratio to manual and increased by 100 MHz followed by a prime 95 run (won't boot once I hit 4.5)

3. Changed the CPU Core Voltage to "Fixed Mode" and set it all the way up to 1.385 (still won't boot beyond BIOS)

4. I disabled C3 and C6 State Support, and disabled CPU Thermal Throttling

Disabling Turbo option will also disable the OC capability. Welcome to Sandy Bridge overclocking, bud. Also make sure CPU Internal PLL is enabled when passing 4.5ghz.

Thanks for the response!

Enabling the Internal PLL Didn't help. See pictures:

Did you enable Turbo Option?

Enabling the option called "Turbo 50" removes the option for me to change the multiplier...is there something else I should be looking for?

Alright so I cleared the CMOS and restored defaults. Left turbo enabled. Manually set the voltage and enabled the PLL.

Now it starts to boot Windows and fails at 4.5 GHz with a vcore of 1.35. I'm guessing just like AMD chips this just requires more voltage?

Did you leave Speedstep Enabled or you turned it off, too?

4.5ghz should require 1.35~1.37v (for a great chip) and 1.38~1.39v for a so-so chip.
