im glad you made up your mind OP..i currently have IPS and its awesome, but probably going to grab a 120hz soon as well.
HDMI can't do 120hz? Or can graphics cards not do 120hz over hdmi? I assume people with plasma's and 120hz lcd/led tv's are getting those specs over HDMI. Or is that wrong also?

from my understanding using a hmdi cable between a graphic card and 120hz monitor...will not be able to deliver 120hz (not enough bandwidth, i believe). HDMI can't do 120hz. So your graphic card and monitor has to have either dual DVI or a displayport to output at 120hz. hope that makes sense.

PS: A lot of "120hz" TVs...aren't "true 120hz".

I was wondering whether to look at a Hi Rez Monitor or 120hz this thread didnt help to much. Good to see OP reached a decision though.

Yeah I looked into the 120hz monitors but I may decide to go non sli in the future and 1080p is nice enough for me so I decided to go for thats how I decided to go for the ips screen
