solid cheap DDR3 ram for heavy overclocking?

Thread Starter
Hey guys,

I'm looking for a DDR3 ram recommendation. I won't be overclocking the RAM per se, but I don't want it to inhibit the performance of my sig rig. I'm mostly going to be gaming, but I do use photoshop and some mathematical software pretty extensively. Any recs would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Check out the Patriot ram here.

http://www.overclock.net/main-components/1133923-x58-mobo-patriot-ram-corsair-ram.html

The guy is a great seller and has great prices.

OK now to a serious note the Patriot Sector 5 is pretty good ram for the money but the offerings from Gskill are good too.

if you can find any gskill 9-9-9 2000MHz ram.. they are usually bbse or pretty good psc based modules and can do cl7 high clocks.

i would go for those (saw some from 40-70 dollars)
what math you doing? modeling?
and photoshop..

will need more than 4gb most likely.. so just get a good 8gb 1866 kit.

mostly modeling and simulations, proprietary software

a little after effects too, but not all that much

How substantial is the difference in performance between the 1333, 1600, 1866? Will any bottleneck CPU overclocks?

$20 different lol. Oh yea, the CL8 are blue and not red. wink.gif

You shouldn't be able to notice the difference really. Only in benchmarks.
