EVGA SR-2 "Super Record" was a board that made enthusiasts drool, and broke more or less all known records in 3DMark when released. EVGA earlier mentioned that it had a successor in the makings, and now the first picture has been released to the public.

The not yet named motherboard from EVGA was first discussed openly by the company back in June. EVGA Classified SR-2 used the custom HPTX formfactor that measured 34.5 x 38.1 cm and supported two LGA1366 processors and twelve memory slots.

The new mothebroards looks just as impressive, but the requirements are like before, like nothing seen before. Each socket has dedicated 8-pin and 6-pin power connectors, while the PCI Express get an extra 6-pin. One socket gets eight memory slots, and the second gets 4 - but since this is still in development things can change. Either way both processor will be running quad-channel memory.

The motherboard brings seven PCI Express x16 slots that support SLI and CrossFireX, and if Intel has played its card right we are dealing with PCI Express 3.0. Since this motherboard is supposed to have two processors, there will be a total of 64 PCI Express 3.0 lanes dedicated to the ports.

We pnly see six SATA ports, but according to EVGA there will be 14 ports. It will also sport two Gigabit Ethernet ports, Bluetooth, 7.1 channel audio, LED for troubleshooting and unknown number of USB 3.0 ports. The motherboard has Power, Reset and Clear CMOS buttons, EVGA EVbot and loads of buttons that are most likely used to turn off and on the armada of PCI Express ports.

The price is of course still a secret, but according to EVGA's previous statements the board will appear a few months after the launch of Sandy Bridge-E.

You may be able to build an SR-3 rig for less than 2k depending on several factors:

1. This board retails for the same price as the original
2. The 6-core Xeons start at $600 and are bsclk unlocked or MP.
3. You're willing to fit all of your peripherals(Case, KB/m, Monitor, etc) into a $200 budget

I totally would. Being poor, beggers can't be choosers.
