Black Border AMD Card

A couple games are being really obnoxious...

BF3, Crysis and Company of Heroes, all seem to have a black border around them and they do not use the fullscreen. They also flicker. I thought it might be the refresh rate but it's synced with the monitor and the same settings in other games gives me no problem. Anyone know what the fix is? or even what the problem is?

If it helps I'm running a HD4850 with latest drivers and my monitor is HDMI out to DVI in on my card. Thanks for any help!

Try and dropping down to an older version of drivers and work your way up until the problem is solved.

This is very commom and depending on which catalyst version you installed. Go to CCC Digital Display option, create a customized resolution to fill up your desktop then click "apply". This will work for BFBC2 not Crsyis2 DX11. For other games it will detect your native highest resolution such as 720p then blow it up to 1080p with the black border around it.

Without knowing your exact monitor and native relosution and available input ports, I assume this is most likely what happens.

Catalyst Control Center > My Digital Flat Panels > Scaling Options

Turn slider up until black borders are gone

Reply: The black borders are only there in game and I can't adjust the scaling options when I alt tab because they go away. GPU Scaling is already on.

Yeah the custom resolution seems like the only option I was hoping I wouldn't have to do that again. Guess I should stick to Nvidia.
