Had a major PC/IT show and my colleague nabbed the Edifier S330D and having dropped by his place and listened to em very decent SQ for the $$/boxed speakers It has digital optical/coax in so if u are hooking up TV/Cable TV STB it's great for that too ^^

Have you checked out yard, estate sales for possibly picking up a decent receiver and speakers separately? Might be able to score a pretty hoss system.

Nah can't really get to those and do not know enough to tell a quality speaker from a crap speaker aside from visible damage without a factory data sheet

Corsair SP2500 ($230 or so online) or Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 ($150 + tax from best buy)..im currently deciding between the 2...price difference is like $60 or so.

Edit: Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 is $150 flat from http://www.klipsch.com/promedia-2-1-computer-speakers ..no tax

Klipsch if you like bass, swans m10 if you want slightly more clarity in your music. I was looking at both options not too long ago, but since I mostly listen to Hip-Hop I went with the promedias. If bass isn't as important, go for the swans m10.

well bass isn't all important but combat games tend to use a good amount and music is mostly classic rock so mids and highs are a big factor there. bear in mind i never run speakers at full power. These altec lansing crap ones I usually never go beyond 1/3 volume.
