560ti sli poor performance

Hi guys, (edit - additional crysis 2 gameplay description)

Im new to running an sli setup and fired up BF3 (edit campaign mode), set all to ultra and was disappointed by poor performance intermittently. Both cards are msi gtx560ti twin frozr II OC edition (880mhz 1GB) I have the newest official 285.62 driver as well. It will play smooth then feels like fps drop then its ok again. When I exit the game, disable sli and re-enter it will play smoother than with sli. My peak fps are lower obviously but the game feels smoother and no lag when only sli is off. One of the msi cards is brand new (installed yesterday), the other is 7months old.

I do want to add I tried it out on crysis2 multiplayer and seemed kinda glitchy/map tearing, I thought it was slow servers but now thinking it could have been the sli setup? (edit) I went into single player and am definetly having issues with sli, windows flicker and the glass in the scope does the same, I rolled back to 280.xx drivers and still the same. In regards to crysis 2 on a single 560ti I did ultra/dx11/hires fine, fps average Im guessing was 30's but never lagged.

Is this driver related or hardware related? Guess this is why sli has mixed reputation?

EA knows about this and is getting a patch ready, It is not Nvidia OR ATI/AMD is is a BF3 problem and will be fixed ASAP

Stop trying to fix it lol you will just make your settings worse JOKE

I've read enough SLI nightmares to avoid dual-card solutions.. I typically upgrade one card to another.

That said, have you tried running it with only a single 560ti? You might see more usable performance that way

Yeah Just went through the beginning of the game again with sli disabled, Im guessing the other is just used for physx like that? Either way It played smoother than in sli, except for a few parts where it really was just a lack of gpu power, overall a better experience than sli for sure lol

Ah bummer dude, honestly its the nicest game I have seen, but that said I havent played crysis 1 or metro which seem to be the heavy gpu users I see mentioned a lot. I do want crysis 1 now that I have more gpu power, I hate the idea of playing a beautiful game on lower settings.

30gb? my BF3 download was only around 9gb on origin.

BTW this game is very optimized. I have a 560ti and I get ~60+ fps in multiplayer on extreme settigns. My gpu is also downclocked to 850mhz since it keeps crashing at 900mhz.

well I own both and can tell you, well crysis 1 BLOWS away crysis2 and Metro2033 is a great game as well but I would wait for "lMetro last light" to come out unless you are just a true gamer that wants to play the first one first. So far Crysis1 is my number one game I own and that is saying something if you ever seen my steam list

11.4gb BTW but EA/origin told me today on the phone it will go up to 16+gb with add on pack

It just keep going till it got to 30gb and I shut it down and closed it out and started over, only the cracked version is 9.5 I think as it dose not have multiplayer files

I should have mentioned it happens in campaign mode. I didnt have enough time to get on multiplayer today, just went through a few missions to see how good the graphics would be. Then it turned into a diag thing and took more time that I wanted it too lol.

literally 1 560ti is working better than sli in campaign, I hope a patch fixes it or I have an unstable factory OCed card/bad nvidia drivers.
