Origin "Repair" broke my BF3 copy.. - Page 2

post #11 of 17
Help!!
Whenever I try to rename the file, it tells me that renaming it may make it unusable, even though I never deleted the extension. I click yes, and then the problem is back again!

I had the same problem where it would keep installing and installing with no progress. So I found a solution through another source that got me to make a dummy bf3.exe file in the Battlefield 3 folder.

Once that dummy .exe file was in the folder, I restarted Origin and right clicked on the game to "Repair" the game again. After it was repaired this time around I got the game to work

Dumb question, but how do I make a dummy file?

Right click->New->Text Document
Change New Text Document.txt to bf3.exe

I'll try it, but Im begginning to get frustrated. I've waited a long time to play this game!

Absolutely pointless, I may just get a refund.
This is really frustrating.

This is crazy, happened to me too. At first I was playing the game fine, then I updated punkbuster with pbsetup and I would constantly get kicked out of the game. Wanted to try out the origin repair feature just in case something got messed up and there I was stuck in that install loop. I tried all ways to get the .exe to work, the game would not start, it would just sync my data. I'm reinstalling the game atm, I've wasted enough time troubleshooting this. On top of all the google search results are flooded with Battlefield 3 Beta threads...
