want to broadcast wifi directionally (~200 meters)

My grandma is getting internet set up at her house and wants the signal to reach my in-laws house (who live across the field, no trees or other obstructions, clear line of site). I don't think regular wireless N is going to do it. I was thinking a router with a connection for an external antenna (directional?) would work well but I have no idea where to start looking or what to look at, either for the router or the antenna (or if there is a better setup than this). I appreciate any info / advice.

Thank you!

edit: I think the router will need to have multiple antennas - one to cover her house and one to aim across the field. I'm hoping this is possible and not horribly expensive...

I'm not opposed to making something. What kind of distance was it good for?

Perhaps a homemade parabolic dish, surrounding a high-gain antenna? Like this antenna?

Not sure about the effective distance but if you actually make one, it would work. It is called a biquad antenna. Here is a tutorial: http://www.engadget.com/2005/11/15/how-to-build-a-wifi-biquad-dish-antenna/?m=false and he is saying that the ap's he is picking up are a few miles away. Again, not the easiest thing to do because you need a satellite dish but it is an effective solution.

Really dont want to use a omi cause it send the signal 360 degrees. I had used some Ubiquity stuff before and it works pretty good. try these not too expensive either http://www.ubnt.com/nanostationm

Go to Radio Shack and get the $90 1-Mile Antenna they have. It uses USB and hooks up to the PC. Put it on the house far away from the wifi and it's strong enough to receive it at good speeds/connections.

Range is like a mile. I'll find a link for you -

( edit )

Can't find the name of it nor find it on their website. I'll be dropping by there tomorrow again so I'll grab the name and post back what model/manufacturer it is.
