Cables, cables, cables...

Hey - I am building a new computer and have 1 huge issue - CABLES. I purchased a Corsair 800D and thought cable management would be a breeze (which it has for the most part) - except the PCI-e cables need an extension :/ - do you guys use extensions and which? I'm just wondering if any extension will be compatible with any psu. Also - I plan on sleeving all my cables - never done it - but willing to give it a shot and get some satisfaction out of it.

Also - how do you guys manage the cables that you route through the back? I see pictures wiuth them so neatly wrapped up and held into place.

Would something like http://www.frozencpu.com/products/13...tl=g35c183s992 supply me with enough sleeving/heat shrink to do my psu + the odd fan cables and front port cables?

If you plan on sleeving it yourself, you can buy premade extensions (non sleeved type) just about anywhere, and they will all be compatible just make sure it has the right connectors.

As for routing the cables, some people use zip ties to bundle to cables and some use clips that screw in the back of the case to route them, it will be mostly up to you on how clean you want it to be and how much work you want to put into it.

And for the sleeving part. I would recommend you look through my sleeving video guides (link is in my sig) as they will give you a good understanding of what you will be getting yourself into as well as provide how much sleeving and heatshrink you will need and 2 types of sleeving that are recommended to start out with and tools to get started.

You can use the kobra sleeving if you like but it has a smaller diameter which makes it tough for first time sleevers to use and as such is not recommended to start out with. But you are free to do as you wish, just have some patience when putting it on the wires as its really tight.

Also that kit has alot of wasted sleeve that you will not use, If you want to single sleeve your powersupply it is always best to order the ammount of sleeving and hs you will need and go from there.

And as always if you have any questions at all please shoot me a PM.

Thanks for the response - This is the first build I'm trying to customize as much as possible and since I like how clean all the sleeved systems look - I figure I'll give it a shot.

I've put a lot of research into what I want to do already but haven't even looked at any info on sleeving (planned on it - just haven't gotten there)

Also - I've been to Brookings a number of times - are you ready for Hobo Days? xD
