This is the most pathetic company I have ever seen. It makes my ill thinking about these people at Apple thinking of patenting stupid crap like this. There should be a law against patent hoarding.
You should see what Microsoft has patented...

You know, I really dislike Apple for this, but I dislike the government even more for even allowing such things being patentable. First they grant square corners being patentable in graphics, and now this, slide to unlock. I wonder how much money Apple paid the patent office and how many people they lobbied and "donated" money to to get away with stuff like this.

I'll never understand this argument. Just because one company patents silly things does not make it okay for another company to do it. You are STILL acting as if Apple is saintly even through this kind of thing, because 'other companies do it too'?

Apple patents, sues, doesn't want to settle, they want to destroy the competition.

Microsoft patents, if people use technology in said patent, they want paid for the usage. They don't take the usage away.

Simple functionality should not be patented - or at the very least, should not be used offensively in such a manner. Nobody would have such an issue with all of this is Apple wasn't using these patents (regardless of when filed) to try and destroy Android. They could easily be making profits off of each any every Android phone if they chose to, but they will not because their former CEO was so mentally unstable he wouldn't settle a once civil legal battle.

There has to be someone, or multiple people, working in the patent office on Apple's payroll.

The patents constantly granted to them prove it. What other explanation could there be for such stupidity? We can't blame everything on ignorance.

A lot of patents get issued on stupid things that may or may not actually be patentable. They're contested on court just as often.

It was in response to the guy I quoted. I never said it made it okay, just that some people are making it sound if Apple is the only one who has ever done this. And yeah, I agree, simple functionality shouldn't be patented.

To be honest, it's smarter to license the technology out. I don't know why they wouldn't, they won't be able to destroy Android.
