Are my idle temperatures OK?

Thread Starter
Just a quick question:
When my system is on idle, the temps rang from 36-50 deg. Is this normal for such a big jump? Under load max temp is 72-73 deg.

When it reaches temps of 50 deg at idle, my computer is not doing anything and my CPU load is only at 0-3%

I have a Intel i7 2600k overclocked to 4.7Ghz 1.368v (STABLE) and my cooler is Noctua NH-D14 with MX-5 paste.

This is my SYSTEM:
Cooler Master HAF X
Intel i7 2600k
Noctua NH-D14
Gigabyte Z68X-UD4-B3Memory
Corsair 12GB
GTX 560 ti x2
OCZ Raid-0 SSD
Antec Quattro 1200 Watt

If someone could just let me know if it should be jumping around that much that would be great!!!

Sounds a little high. Do you have EIST disabled? Check your CPUZ. You may be running at your 4.7 constantly rather than stepping down to 1.6 at idle.

Nice setup BTW.

No problem man. Had the same thing happen with my 2500k. Your stability shouldnt change. If you have already tested with prime then you should be GTG. Do a 12 hr idle test maybe. but no need to re-prime.
