Crashing... Make it stop!!!

Hey guys I have a huge problem with trying to use software based overclocking. I am very nubbish when it comes to OCing. But I know my rig is very capable of doing it and would like to know if im doing something wrong, what can be corrected, and how much more efficient I can get with my rig. I am looking for a couple of you guys or anyone who is just plain passionate about running systems at an amazing capacity. I do not need an elitist telling me im dumb. Just assume im a moron please. Hopefully one of you guys can skype with me and walk me through if it gets that bad. I understand some of how this all works and the purpose of it. I really think I just need some fine tuning.

-Backstory- I received my computer got it all hooked up and set everything up. Re installed all my hardwares drivers and stuff like that. I tried using the Nvidia GPU/CPU overclocking software that came with the GPU it makes my system crash. I also attempted the use of my ASUS Mobo OCing software as well and it crashed. I do not know what the problem is. When I Auto Tune using the ASUS software I get about 3.8Ghz out of it. But I don’t know if it corrects all the number crunching that I would imagine my ram, mobo, cpu, and gpu need to run fluid. I think that 4.2 Ghz is most likely achievable but maybe its not. Maybe 3.8Ghz is too much for a 6 core. IDK. What should I do, go straight into the BIOS and change things or just find a way to stabilize my rig via software provided. Im thinking that the softwares are conflicting. I shut down one then try the other. I would like to run my processor at like 4Ghz and possibly OC my GPU and RAM a little bit. I don’t know how to OC my GPU or my RAM so maybe you guys can help with that too. Below is my setup. I think that is pretty much everything you guys need to figure out why I suck. All help is greatly appreciated. I use this computer for "extreme" gaming.

AMD PHENOM II X6 1100T 3.3GHZ, 8GB(2x4GB) CORSAIR VENGEANCE 1600MHZ DDR3, HIS H687QNT1G2M RADEON HD 6870 (Crossfire is coming soon though), ASUS M4A87TD EVO 870 MOBO. Typically im running at 30*C-32*C I have never seen anymore than that.

I will update almost immediately after you comment so please stick around.

First, fill out you system spec in your profile. It is easier for people to help you that way. Skip the software overclocking and make changes in the BIOS. You'll have more control to get it stable.

first fill out the form here as best you can

http://www.overclock.net/specs.php?do=addsystem

if your using the stock cooler dont overclock

dont use software to overclock

oc through bios

first turn off c1e and c&q (cool and quiet) (they will undervolt and underclock when idle)

bring up the multi 1 step (.5) at a time
watch the temps
1100t has a max of 62c (aim for a max of 55c to give some overhead)
http://products.amd.com/en-us/Deskto...=True&f12=True

use hwmonitor to see the temps
http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html

and run prime95 blend for 15+ minutes to get a max temp estimate
http://files.extremeoverclocking.com/file.php?f=103

if prime95 crashes or gives errors, in bios, add a little more core voltage (+.05v at a time)
if temps are too high lower the oc or lower the core voltage and the oc

ok I updated all my info. How do i turn off that cool n quiet ****. im still not sure which values to change in my bios. Also, do the settings (#-#-#-#-#) change every thing? What timing is that dealing with. My mobo came with a manual for suggested timings for certain CPUs

What work for me and my X6 was to do everything manually in the BIOS.
Set the vcore, nb voltage to stock volts. I started with stock cpu setting and very slowly upped the Northbridge Freq to around 2600MHz. After each small change, I did a 20 minute test using OCCT. That amount of time let me know if it was kind of stable.

You'll want to make the changes slowly so that you are not using more volts than you need because more volts also means more heat. That said, here's a LINK to the setting I used for 4.2 on a 955.

Once I got to a overclock that's fails quickly, I added touch more volt as long as the temps were below 55*. I know it's like walking in the dark at first, but buy making little changes that don't get into the crazy volt area, you are not going to hurt your parts.
