How to apply thermal paste with teh right method?

Thread Starter
Hello!
I'm going to install an Intel Core i7-2700K in a month or two.
How should I apply thermal paste? What's the best and most secure method?
I'm sorry, I've never built an Intel system before.

Should the surface of the CPU be covered in paste or just a pea-size drop and then force the heatsink to spread it out?
