However, I would like to upgrade my sig rig from it's current x2 570 to a legit x4 (I've been having troubles with stability after unlocking the cores).

Before I pull the trigger, are these two processors comparable? Does one out-class the other? Which would you recommend?

At the moment, my plan is to try to get the 965 used. I'm looking a different classifieds as well the sales forum here at OCN. However, I would like to make the upgrade soon so if I can't find a 965 used, I might get a 960T. I'm NOT looking to go into the x6 price range. (If Piledriver is a letdown I'm gonna switch from being disappointed to being angry)

960t all the way. You'll have the potential to get an extra core or two, and even with 4 cores, you'll still be able to easily hit the 4.0-4.2 ghz range.

960T buddy n doubt
  1. its basicly a thuban base cpu which comes we 2 cores either locks or laser cut, the good part is if its locked then with the help of a proper motherboard with ACC function can unlock it to hex
  2. but if it is laser cut i can not be unlocked frown.gif
  3. secondly as its a thuban base cp the IMC on the Chip is a thuban IMC so you get a better IMc that means you can overclock your system better
  4. and it it does not even unlock yet it consumes less power and yields more performance
  5. and lastly Thubans tend to hit ~4.2Ghz with ease biggrin.gif
