Mounting a Titanium HD(or similar) somewhere else in my case?

Kind of an odd question... but currently in my system I don't have the freedom to slap a soundcard in between my 580 Lightnings as when I plug in my old sound card the fans hit the card. What I'd like to do, is get a PCIe extender and mount the sound card in a separate section of my case and hook it to an empty PCIe slot.

Is that possible? Has anyone done it? I don't own a Titanium HD, but I want one badly, but want to be able to fit it somewhere in my system. I would go with an External sound card/DAC arrangement, but nothing gives me the kind of features the Titanium HD would. If you know of something let me know. Price isn't too much of a concern, but under $300 if it's as good as the titanium has has nearly all of the features.

I am in a HAF 932 case right now, but might move to a Raven RV03. I'm trying to think of a solution for this. If you need visual representations of my case, I will take a photo of it when I get home from work to show.

Summary: Not enough room to safely plugin a full size sound card. Wondering if I can mount the soundcard to a separate place in my case and wire a PCIe extender.

Edit: Or is there a better case for doing this. Something with an extra slot so I could move the card to that and run the extender to it?

You could get a flexible riser and move the card to another open slot.

My current case has no slots that don't line up with an already exsisting slot, so A) won't fit and B) would block air to my video cards just like pluging it in normally.

Has anyone mounted a PCI bracket card to a 5.25 bay or a 3.25 bay? I would love to be able to plug my headphones directly into my sound card without getting on the floor behind the computer.

wait, dont line up?

Would love to see some pictures of that.

Sounds like your only decent option would be an external usb

I mean to say that all the expansion slots on the case, are aligned with a PCI/PCIe slot, so I don't have a slot to place the card. It would have to be a more creative place. If you don't understand I'll shoot a photo tonight and post it.

If there were full coverage blocks for my cards I might have considered watercooling them so I could fit the card.
