SQL from Access to Excel

Thread Starter
Just a quick question in regards to using SQL to export data from Access to an Excel spreadsheet. I'm very very new to using SQL and DBs, so i apologize if this is an easy noob question I've overlooked the answer to. Basically, I've got data I want to send to an Excel spreadsheet from my Access DB. I want to be able to change the color of the text in the spreadsheet, based upon certain criteria. If a certain box is checked, I want the text in that row to become blue. If a different box is checked, I want the text to turn red in that row. Is that possible to do using SQL to create a query and export the data to excel? I know i can do it by hand in excel, just wanting to know if i can make it automated, thanks!!

This doesn't directly answer your question but you may want to look at Access to Excel looks like youll have to do some VBA potentially. I have never done this but I did a quick google search for what your looking for and this is what came up. This may also help http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/ac...001224122.aspx

Edit:
You'll need to do a bit of reading though I didnt read them both thoroughly so sorry if they dont end up helping.

never worked with VBA before, that site is blocked by work unfortunately so i'll have to look at that when i get home...thanks for the links, exporting from access to excel isn't tough, it's just the converting text that's proving challenging...i was thinking a simple SELECT statement could make it work, but i'm not seeing how i could use SQL to convert text color...

Yea I doubt youd be able to change cell color using SQL since its generally for interfacing with a database. You would probably have to interface it with some form of langauge to perform the cell color conversion.

Yeah, still reading online looking for a solution, but i really don't see any way to code SQL to perform this task, indeed it seems like some coding in Excel to make this happen. thanks for the input, much appreciated
