Max temperature is around 100c, but people like to keep it lower. Lower temperatures can make it last longer - but how long do you want it to run? 20 years, or just 3-4 years?

As heat goes up, the power needed for it to run at the same clock is increased. Same goes for nvidia GPUs. If the GPU or CPU is hot, it needs more voltage than if its cold, and it will also let you clock it higher. Meaning that you can get pretty high clocks, stable, with lower voltage when you keep it cold.

When the CPU reach around 100c, the CPU starts throttling down automatically, meaning that your performance gets really bad and games will start to stutter and lags bigtime. It throttle down to get temperature under control. Many of you might have seen this issue with gamer-laptops too. Nothing to worry about, just annoying.

Around 130c the CPU will go into catastrophic mode, meaning that it will shut down for you. Still nothing to worry about, its a build in mechanism to protect from serious failure. At this stage the computer will be so unstable, that you cannot use it anyway.

I had mine closing down several times because of a defect waterpump, and as I said before - I havent seen any problems yet.
