Need to upgrade my GTX 280

Thread Starter
BF3 is running pretty choppy on my system with all the settings set to medium and with AA off. I want to upgrade my video card and have something to hold me off until the NVIDA 700 series when they hopefully change the architecture.

Should I go with a GTX 560 TI or GTX 470. Here is a GTX 470 I found on Newegg or maybe see if I can pick up a used one. I'm not too familiar with the Galaxy brand.

Thanks for you help.

The 560ti is a great card to buy. It's better than the 470 in performance along with power consumption and heat. It should hold you well until the 7xx series comes out.

+1 for 560 ti as well. If you get a good card they OC very very well while keeping cool and consume less power than a 470. Only reason I would pick a 470 over a 560 ti is if you're playing at a really high res and that extra .3gb of vram could come in handy. However, at 1080p and all settings ultra(no AA, or HBAO) I haven't tapped out of the vram I have with my 560 ti and the game runs great.

Buy as much of a card as you can, the 700 series is a ways off.....

I would go for 560Ti over the 470...

i went from gtx 280 to gtx 560 non ti and it is a way better card... not sure in bf3 but crysis 2 it kills
post #9 of 11
Your Samsung 226BW runs natively at 1680x1050; at that resolution, a 470 & 560 Ti are exactly identical:

560ti or 560. Both great cards for BF3.
