I know from experience that the Corsair SSD people will let you RMA a disk with no questions asked. You can send them a working disk and they'll send you the same disk back and pay for shipping both ways. You can send them a disk and ask them to update the firmware. It may or may not mean that their SSD's have more problems, and I think a large part of that particular figure comes from the way they approach customer service.

XFX don't surprise. There are so many bad XFX cards on ebay, for example, and I've had some die on me too.

Just because there's high RMA rates doesn't mean the company sucks...

The more people who own a product, the more people who will run into problems.

If you throw a rock at 20 people in a football field, your chances of hitting someone is pretty slim unless you're specifically aiming at someone...

If you throw a rock at 5000 people standing in a football field, your chances of hitting someone goes up drastically.

Just hope that rock doesn't hit you. Even with good products it can happen.

"RMA Rate", means the rate of parts per manufacturers which are RMA'd. That's it.

Except the rates are percentages of products sold that are RMA'd. Therefor quantity is removed as a factor. If you sell 1,000 items, you need to have 10 RMA'd to get a 1% return rate. If you sell 100, you only need ot have 1 RMA'd to get a 1% return rate, and if you only sell 10, a single RMA gets you a 10% RMA rate.

If anything, the bias is in favor of companies that ship large quantities as a single erroneous RMA affect your RMA rate much less.


Couple interesting things I noticed:
SSD return rates
- Intel 0.1% (formerly 0.3%)
- Crucial 0.8% (formerly 1.9%)
- Corsair 2.9% (formerly 2.7%)
- OCZ 4.2% (formerly 3.5%)

more interesting is if you look at product most likely to be RMA'd list:
- 9.14% 2 240 GB OCZ Vertex
- 8.61% 2 120 GB OCZ Agility
- 7.27% 40GB OCZ Agility 2
- 6.20% 60GB OCZ Agility 2
- 5.83% 80 GB Corsair Force
- 5.31% 90GB OCZ Agility 2

It's all sandforce.

RAM wise:
- Crucial 0.4% (formerly 0.7%)
- Kingston 0.5% (formerly 0.4%)
- G. Skill 1.4% (formerly 2.0%)
- Corsair 1.6% (formerly 1.6%)
- OCZ 6.0% (formerly 7.1%)

That HUGE jump to OCZ is actually a lot more than I thought. No wonder they're leaving/left the RAM business.

Also interesting is that of the top 5 most RMA'd RAM kits, 4 are corsair confused.gif
- 11.04% Gold Edition OCZ 2x2GB DDR3 1333 MHz (OCZ3G1333LV4GK)
- 9.17% 3x2 GB Corsair XMS3 DDR3 1600 MHz CL9 (CMX6GX3M3A1600C9)
- 7.32% Corsair XMS3 DHX 2x2GB DDR3 1333 MHz CL9 (TW3X4G1333C9DHX)
- 6.98% Platinum Corsair XMS3 (3x2 GB DDR3 1333 MHz CL9 (TR3X6G1333C9)
- 6.82% 3x2 GB Corsair XMS3 DDR3 1600 MHz CL9 (TR3X6G1600C9)


Also of note is the fact that this data represents sales from a single vendor in France, so the sample size may not be very large.

It is an RMA rate, its like asking "Let's consider the guys who own a Corsair SSD, what percentage of them RMA'd them ?"
Whatever the owners are 100 or 100 000 you will have comparable statistics.
