How do I know when Vista Defrag is running?

I use the defrag that came with vista and I have it set to run each week, I'm just wondering how I know when it's running. is there a process that shows up in task manager? also what happens if I shut down my computer while it's defraging, does it start from scratch and mess things up?

-right click on your desired drive (the one thats scheduled).
-properties.
-tools tab.
-defragment now. (this will not start the defrag process)
-at the bottom, click analyze disk. (takes <2 mins)
-after it is completed, it will show you the %fragmented, this should be low if you do it every week, <%5.

ah ok thanks, now I shut my computer down while I think it was defragging so did it start over or leave off from where it was?

Not sure how that would work. It may just stop the defrag where it was, and not continue. It would just do a complete defrag next scheduled time.
