Twin Frozr II 580 I cant get it cool

Hey Ocn,

I recently got a GTX 580 twin frozr II from MSI, the reason is cuz my old gtx 280 was doing 80-85 pretty much always. I wanted to change that and seeing people run it 50-60C, my friend is running it 63C he didnt even tweak a thing on airflow or anything.

Running BC2 most maps I can have my case dead silent and still get about 70-75C.

When im running Heaven on dead silent I get about 77.

When I max my fans BC2 doesnt get above 70C and heaven goes to like 72C.

But when im running Mafia II or other heavy games which seems to be running my GPU 100% 24/7. Im getting easyally up to 80 to 83. 75 if I completly max out the fans at the so far best airflow I found. Tried fur mark but turned it off when it didnt show a steady temp after reaching 85C in no time at all.

Here is what im running. Fractal design R3, antec 620 on 2500k. I have 2x sickle flow CM 70 cfm fans in the front as intake. Running 2x thermalright 140mm 60cfm fans, one as top out and one as side intake(having this as side out only makes things worse).

I have tried almost anything, all fans in all fans out, mutiple setups. Even had a sickle flow in the botten of the case blowing air right into the GPU, also at an angle to force the air out of the PCI brackets which are open.

So I either need some golden advice since I think somehow this card still cant get rid of its warm air fast enough. The weirdest thing is that im getting 25-27C idle temps when im running the case dead silent, and cooling down from 80C to 30C in about 2 mins. Is the OC on the MSI card too much for my chip ? or did I just get unlucky in the lottery ? Also the way the Fractal is layed out its almost impossible to get air in the case from the front cuz of the angle and closed drive bays.

I have my ngtx580 TFII at 1.13v and it hits ~84C while folding which is has been about 5-8C hotter than BF3 for me. What volts your running at? Have you tried reseating the cooler?

It running 25-27C idle guess rules out bad seating.

The voltages are on the stock 1.025
Core Clock 800
Shader CLock 1600
Mem Clock 2048

I hear the fan ramp up high when its getting about 70+ so its not that either.

I dont overclock but if I would and its already getting 80C there is no way I could.

Btw does a GPU also up the voltage if it needs it when its on auto just like the CPU ?
Maybe by just setting a stable volage that doesnt fluctuate it wont get this hot ?

*edit, forced constant voltage on MSI afterburner, didnt seem to do anything at all. According to MSI its running 99% 24/7 in Mafia resulting in 77-80C.
