hanging at i386_start_kernel+0xaa/0xb1 after upgrading from 9.04 to 10.04 LTS

My system keeps hanging at i386_start_kernel+0xaa/0xb1 when I boot.

If I hit escape and boot using the third option it will boot but i need to manually start x.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

Nevermind, the system was borked and a complete loss.

I just did a clean install of 10.04LTS Server and am starting over.

This pretty much doesn't exist with Linux, even if GRUB is toast you can re-install it from a liveCD

1) This is why you save old kernels.

2) Linux is never borked.

I would agree, but since for the most part this a is a educational machine, I didn't feel like spending the effort to fix it.

My current project is setting up a OpenVPN server.
