My voltage fluctuates between 1.384-1.4 now when I'm folding @4.7 :/

My TC 2600k@4.8ghz is running 1.415 vcore.. folding stable for a couple of weeks now. Before that, it needed 1.390 for 4.7 ghz.

I found that what was stable in Windows wasn't necessarily stable in ubuntu.

This is very true, but it gives you a good benchmark.

Yes it does

But it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to fine tune in windows, then have it crash in ubuntu.

lm-sensors, then the hardware sensors applet. All you really need to know is the core temps. If it isn't too hot, then whether or not it crashes is the next thing. There's nothing better than folding in ubuntu for a stress test.

Thanks for the input. I use my 2500K for team folding and I'd like to be able to do -hugeadv wu's, but I need a higher oc to do a 6904 in the bonus time. In December, I'm going to try putting it underwater to see if that helps. I figure 6 months of volts a bit outside of my comfort range will get me ready for a 6 or 8 core Ivy Bridge around May.

You should be able to do 6904 just in time for bonus (5.6 days) at 4.7ghz for 24/7 folding (nothing else). Mine was at 4.9ghz and a 6904 finished 6 hours before the deadline.

my ram is much slower than urs too

My FTP for a 6900 is about 29:50 which makes it about an hour past bonus for a 6004. I have not had the time to learn how to set things up without the GI, which I think would improve the folding time enough to get a 6904 done.

So you tried a 6904 before? I don't think you can predict how a WU perform based on other WUs.
