WRT54G V5 not connecting

Hey guys, wondering if you guys had ever seen these symptoms on this router.
It worked just fine for a couple of months, then started doing the following:

Lost connection via WIFI, or ethernet after about 5 mins. I can't ping it, or bring up the setup page.

I wanted to update to WW-DRT, however I can't stay connected to the switch to to do anything, let alone update firmware.

Is it bricked? Can't complain, I got it for free.

Thanks in advance

Edit: Forgot to mention, I have hard reset it,and also added active cooling to the processor.

I have a V1 and love it, no probs, might have to cut your losses and go with an earlier version. I think anything past V3 is junk, and i think i have a V3 also, and it sucked. I run static external and internal IP and after a while it would just lock up and deny access for no reason.

Kind of what I figured, but I needed to ask first. They dumbed these things down too much with less ram and such, and I think that is the biggest problem.

This thing is just way too crazy to work with. Now, it works just fine. I left it plugged in for 24 hours(just power, no ethernet or lan), and decided to give it a try again, now I have no connection problems. Updating to DDRWT, and hopefully that resolves the issues, but I think it is a hardware issue of the limited resources this thing can give.
