Didn't your Q9550 have the same issue?

But you're right, my statement was too broad, Grid, dirt 1 and 2 don't play well with my i7, at all. Dirt 1 wont load at all, Grid and Dirt 2 do that weird speed up slow down thing.

OP, you mentioned the console does it too and that it may be a coding issue. Before this i7 rig, I had an AM3 rig and all three of those games ran beautifully. No stutter, no lag, no problems.
Turning Hyperthreading off helps a bit, but it doesn't make the issues go away, and still doesn't make Dirt 1 playable.
