6970 is a tad faster than the 570 and has more RAM. Where as the 570 offers physx. If you don't care about physx, the 6970 would be the better choice. They pretty much perform the same though. I think the 6970 draws less power also.
While playing bf3 last night I was getting gpu vram usage at 1.65gb. I was getting about 45-50 average, lowest being 31 highest I dont know vsync was on max 60. game fully maxed out. Mind u im shader unlocked on my 6950. My buddy with a 570 was getting 35-40 average lowest he says was 29 and highest at 50. but he says he had to turn some things down cause he was crashing to desktop with vram being maxd out. His card was running stock, I was overclocked to 950x1500. So if your going to get the 570 make sure its the 2.5gb version if not, then get the 6970.
Well since I've seen about 5 threads today that compare not just those two cards, but 10s of cards at different resolutions and settings that you wouldn't need to ask a question like that.
Build your system a week later and do some research yourself, you'll benefit from it.

I agree with this. The 6970 has more vram. And more future proof. I don't understand why the 570 only has 1.2 gigs. I think they should have 1.5 but that is me. And if you go crossfire you'll have a beast of a system. With enough vram 4 new games that hasn't been released yet. The newer games to be released will only need more and more vram.
Uh seriously people, Have we lost what this site is about? He asked a valid question and all you could come up with was Dumb A$$ comments! Da1Nonly had a good response and I would take that advice.
Have not upgraded yet but I have always gone Nvidia but seriously looking into the Radeon.
I am bias because I own a 6970. With that said..... go with the AMD card. I am getting 40 - 50 FPS on ultra settings in BF3.(1100T cpu) There is also the bit about VRAM. Lets also not forget that AMD could probably use the buisness! I will mention though that i have found a solution for the small frame difference I see between my card and the 580....... I turn off fraps and log into my bank account !!!!! Hope to see you on the battlefield. Enjoy the game.
Posting a question in a manner which is incomprehensible or rather an incomplete thought and then berating someone because they don't understand you is the quickest way to NOT get help. However, by all means continue on with your current conduct and enjoy continuing to anger some members.
6970 goes head to head with a 580. Does that help you? Can't go wrong with a 6970 accounting price/performance ratio.
Not sure what charts you're looking at. The BF3 benchmarks thread on this very site shows the 580 well ahead of the 6970 and the 570/6970 within .5 fps of each other at 1080p.
This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
