GTX480 Overclock and 3DMark11 Score - Epic?

Hey all,

I've finally got around to properly OC'ing my GTX480, I got a ThermalRight Shaman and VRM-G2 as the stock cooler was too loud AND My GTX480 has a stock VID of 0.987 which is apparently quite good. So I had high hopes for it's OC'ing potential.

The most OC'ing I've done prior to getting the Shaman was with the stock cooler and I got to (Stock clocks are 701Mhz Core, 924Mhz/3700Mhz Memory, 1401Mhz Shader) was 865Mhz on the core and stock on the memory, with the voltage at 1.01v, and the max load temp was 83c. Apparently this in itself was a good OC. With those settings, and with my CPU at 4.5Ghz I got P6741 in 3DMark11

Anyway so yeah, I've just been OC'ing and this is what I've landed on:

Core: 900mhz
Memory: 1025Mhz/4100Mhz
Shader: 1800Mhz
Voltage: 1.07v

PROOF

With these new clocks I get P7119 in 3DMark11. And my max load temp is 69c.

Is this good for a GTX480 on air? Think I can OC it more to beat a stock GTX580 if I'm not doing so already?

Pretty good. Mine on 470:

That very very good. A 900mhz GTX 480 will outperform a stock gtx 580 and might even match a slightly OC'd 580. My 480 can only get 850/1910 at 1.13v

Great score, right behind my OC'd 580.

Oh wow I didn't realise I was so close to GTX580 territory, can you link to your 3DMark11 result please lightsout?

Also I've still got tonnes of voltage and temp headroom... should I try for more?

Here is my old GTX 580 Matrix at stock clocks (816/4008): P6916

And here is 950: P7794

I would say you've definitely surpassed a stock vanilla 580.

What do you use to OC your GTX480? cause for me MSI Afterburner for the voltage says +80 for exmaple instead of the voltage it is at.

Afterburner is great for lightnings, whatever the stock volts are (says in AB), +80 adds 80 Millivolts (say 1.013V stock, add +80 = 1.093V).
AB also lets you change the memory & pll voltages as well with lightnings.
