couple of questions from an old school Water cooler

hey guys,

i have done many water cooling builds starting with a pentium 4 EE i did with my uncle way back in the day... as the years have gone on, i have noticed that better fittings and pumps have caused people to not need to do everything with tubing... i am currently planning a long term build and need some questions about WC "bling" answered

QUESTIONS:

1) i have recently seen some build logs that absolutely looked amazing with straight tubing/tubless (idk witch one they did as it is never stated)... these are L3P desk by L3P and carbon by keir (idk if he is on these forums)... i have only ever done tubed builds with the common arched tubes, and i would like to do something similar to what is seen in these builds, but i need some tips and tricks ... if it is tubeless, is there a trick to ensuring that the crystal links stay in the connectors? i don't see any locking mechanism on them

2) i found a UV fluid comparison thread a wile back with pictures of each fluid under normal light and with UV effect (i think it was on xtremesystems, but idk)... i have searched and searched the past few days, but couldnt find it... would somebody plz help? it disappeared

3) does anybody know if a single FrozenQ reactor core would be enough to get UV fluid to glow through an entire loop?

NOTE:

this will most likely be an x79 setup and will be fully water cooled... ie. 2x RAM blocks, 4x GPU blocks, mobo blocks, CPU block, ect... i will also be probably be using EK copper blocks with Plexi tops so i can see the sweet UV fluid

DONT BOTHER WITH THESE:

1) yes i have seen what UV and colored fluid in general does to blocks and pumps... i like to tinker, so the loop will probably get cleaned ever 4 months or so, so it wont be too big of a problem... and i am prepared to have to scrub the snot out the the blocks if needed

2) yes i know about all the problems with EK, but i have used them for years and they have never failed me so far (given i never used the nickel products, but i dont plan to)... i have also never had a bad experience with their costumer service, and i cant count how many times i have talked to them

3) i am full aware that more fittings and crystal links will decrease my flow rate, but i plan to have multiple pumps and (in recent days) i have never seen more than about a 3C delta between a fitting less build and an identical build with plenty of fittings, so im not too worried

thanks in advance everybody

1. I don't think all their tubing are crystal links, both builds include tubing in their parts. They probably just dipped the tubes in hot water to straighten them out. As for crystal link's i've never used them but I've used ones made of metal similar, usually it has a fitting like this, and the o-ring is what holds the crystal tube in place, I'm sure they are pretty tight since they have become so popular.

2. Skip the UV Fluid and go with distilled+kill coil, then get UV Tubing

3. No idea.

First of all, thanks for the resonce... Second, I have contacted l3p to ask the same question (makes me a little uncomfortable if Ty dont lock in)... I sent it at like 2 am his time, so I probably wont get a resolve for a wile ... As for the dye, I have seen what it does to blocks (I build and upkeep loops for a living ATM)... I know what will happen well, but I also plan to use mayhem witch tends to take a little longer to clog up from my experence... And that seems to be the common answer I'm getting for the res idea
