Guys,
DON'T STRESS ABOUT SUSTAINING MAX FPS!!

Create a user config file and type:
gametime.maxvariablefps 59.5

MAKE SURE the file is saved as a config file, not as a text file.

Do I miss seeing 120FPS on my crossfire? Honestly, not one bit.. Not only are my temps lower allowing my 6870 fans to emit less noise, but the game is BUTTER SMOOTH!!!

Please take the time to test the command above.. I disabled it the other night for 5 minutes and had to quit the game and re-enable it, despite the fact that I lost an average of 35-50 FPS when playing.. It really doesn't matter as playing smoothly at 59.5 FPS with VSYNC enabled and ZERO mouse lag is 100000000x better and looks better than playing choppy at 125 FPS with vsyn off and massive video lag..

If you have not tried the above formula, I suggest you do. Below I will copy my entire user.cfg:

RenderDevice.TrippleBufferingEnable 0
RenderDevice.ForceRenderAheadLimit 1
gametime.maxvariablefps 59.5

whoever it was that suggested i get new RAM because the 2 year old G-skill wasn't cutting it for them was completely right! new RAM just came, popped it in, got on BF3 perfect sync with cards, running at a solid 60fps. turned off vsync just to see and got up to 1oofps a few times but solid around 85fps. Everything maxed out. Thanks whoever that was

I went out and picked up a i7-2600K, ASUS P8Z68-V/Gen3, and 16GB of Corsair XMS3 DDR3 1600 (my G.Skill was giving me fits). I installed 11.12 with no CAP and tested a fresh install of BF3 on a fresh install of Win 7. I am now seeing 100% GPU usage from both cards and with high settings at 5760x1080 I am getting around 40-60 fps. I can cut back and run Medium (which is fine) and get better and smoother gameplay. Gonna fiddle around with some of the newer drivers to see if I can't get it to run any better.
This is all at stock clocks on the GPUs and CPU... for now.thumb.gif
Edit: I should add that the components I replaced were: i5-650, MSI P55-GD80, and G.Skill Ripjaws DDR3 1600. With the i5 at stock clocks all the way up to 4.1ghz I still never saw more than maybe 70% of GPU 2 utilization, and GPU1 was never always fully at 100%... it was choppy at best.

He did.

Quick question... I use gametime.maxvariablefps also but... how do you automatically load the cfg file? I've tried using a config editor and adding it to the bottom but doesn't work unless I type it every time.

Change the file association and name the file user.cfg in the main BF3 folder
