When I first got this game it was running a lot better than that! With an i5 2500k at 4.3GHz and two 6950s, shouldn't I be more like 60-70 FPS at all times on ultra?
I don't set any settings in ccc, I let bf3 run my setting, I have never had success with ccc settings for games.

I was playing on Damavand Peak. Before I posted on this forum I was getting about 30% usage on both cards even while forcing the BF3 CFX APP. It ran really well ironically but I was still getting the issue of my mouse "sticking" like I was before. Crossfire performs really well on all of my games except BF3. I did not know how to capture my CPU usage but I believe it runs on all four cores. I can't run it on Ultra w/ anti aliasing on a single card. It seems that if I even have the crossfire bridge hooked up but only using one card, I will get ""mouse sticking". With the bridge unplugged, BF3 runs really well, just not maxed out. I did realize after the fact that 16x w/ 4x lanes is not the best, but through research I have done on the internet, it is only a max 10% loss on the 4x lane.

Oh wait a second...

I checked the MSI website on your board, and it appears that your board does 16x/4x (vs. 8x/8x with most boards). The problem with your configuration is that the second PCIe slot is running off of the chipset which means that both cards are running at that speed (Crossfire diverts to the slowest link).

Try it with a single card in the first slot and I can guarantee that your performance will be better than if you had a Crossfire configuration.

In GPU-Z it says one card is PCI-E 1.1 x16 @ x4 1.1 and the other is PCI-E 2.0 x16 @ x16 2.0

Is that just the bus interface default and not what they're running at? They're both really at x4?

If that's the case, I REALLY can't wait for Newegg to RMA my other board lol.

Well I actually get significantly worse FPS with one GPU on ultra than I do with two, even if they're running at 4x like you say.

Hey all , I could really use some help.

Been playing BF3 since launch on my 5970 4GB , and although it hasn't always been perfect , for the most part it worked. Could get around 40FPS on ultra biggrin.gif which i was pretty happy with .

Last week I was looking at settings for a performance increase , hoping to get a more stable frame rate . However after changing some relativly minor settings my BF started stuttering almost as if I was having Lag from a poor connection .

Here is a video of the problem
( sorry for the quality , was done in a rush)

The issue is easier to see towards the end of the video.

My FPS sits around 30fps and the GPU utilization on both GPU cores is about 30%

I have tried everything i can think of including
  • I changed back the settings i could remember but to no avail.
  • Re-installed old trusty 11.11a with 11.9 cap4 , and also tried new drivers , still no change (used driver sweeper and atiman)
  • overclocking / underclocking components
  • Disabling ulps
  • Re-installing BF3

Its not lag since my brother plays on the same connection without problems.

Next on the list is to re-install windows which is a pain in the A**

So does anybody have any ides ?

Any help is appreciated

really looks like a problem that use to plague me until i disabled "enableunlps" but you have already done.
have you tried 12.1 drivers without caps?
Do you have vsync enabled or disabled?
also does the problem persist if you turn off AFB?

Sorry for my noobness but what is AFB ?

MSI Afterburner is what AFB is bud, it is so hard to troubleshoot single board dual gpu setups.
only other thing is to make sure crossfire is enable in the drivers or CCC

Only fix is to take a card out of the mix and try that. I have tested eyefinity with 3 and 2 7970s this last weekend with a buddies computer. It was light and day with how the cards tested. But I was also working with a 2700k
