Battlefield 3 Crossfire issues? Complete list of known fix's here! 12.1 A and 11.12 CAP 2 inside! - Page 9

Im running 6990 + 6970 here with no real issues other than memory. I have 8GBs RAM, 2GB Vram, and nothing else running on this system. It wont play without at least another 8GB page file. So sadly 12gb still might not be enough.

Quad-core (socket LGA1156) clocked at 2.80 Ghz stock, running with a modest overclock right now (3.05 Ghz, running stable for the past 4+ months that it's been sitting at that freq). I'd say it *could* be, but BF3 running on one card pretty a-ok. Just when I enable Crossfire it decides to bog down. The 760 isn't *that* old. Not super new by any means, but not really that old.

Does this just happen on BF3? What's your PSU? Now, BF3 has made my stable OC go bonkers, causes the game to bog up and screw everything up, I had to back down to get it stable, I would try this. Someone mentioned this about Intel CPU's who had a similar issue.

This game has a horrible memory leak then. I'm half tempted to pick up 8 more gigs since it's so cheap just to see.

I want to chime in and say that the if you have the 11.10 v3 drivers with cap 4 installed, the new WHQL driver with cap 4 does not fix any issue you may have had. It is exactly the same. A shame really. I hoped that AMD had implemented actual fixes rather than only the WHQL certification.

I still have stuttering when both GPUs on my 6990 are being utilized. Running with one gpu eliminates the stuttering. Is AMD aware of this issue plaguing the 6990? The 6990 is unique in that it does have problems that a 6970 crossfired might not have. I want the word spread to AMD that crossfire is seriously a hit and miss with this game at this point.

Something I just realized, do you have Hyperthreading enabled on your I7?

Yup I reckon so, thats exactly what I will be doing this week too.

Good spot, turn HT off if you havent.

One thing I did which I found on the forums regarding stuttering, was to turn off HPET. This is on an AMD system. It was one of a few things i did, and never really looked into what it is in depth. Cant say whether or not it had an effect, but could be worth investigating.

The game uses up 1.5-1.6GB VRAM if you do division on the usage in crossfire. At the moment your CPU is a bottleneck at 90-97% usage. Same goes for me at 4.2Ghz.

But you are using 3 GPUs! 6990 (2 GPUs) + 6970 (1 GPU). CPU cannot handle 3 GPUs.

It's already insane with my HD 6970 x2 at the moment.

Bottleneck is irrelevant. Cards are maxed out a reasonable amount of time, only heavy particle rendering causes the CPU to lag behind. Even so, as long as it is holding 60fps it doesnt really matter. People use the word bottleneck too frequently like its the end of the world. CPU can keep up most of the time, and the times it cant it doesnt matter. Eyefinity makes a big difference as well.

Have you clocked your NB up?

Ps. the game uses up Vram, 3800+mb of shared system memory(allocated to gpu), more system RAM, and also page file

Pps. I had a plan to upgrade to BD once it was released, but at this point i cant see there being enough of a difference. Disappointed to say the least. Perhaps once a new stepping and revision is out.
