Can anyone here confirm 24/7 OC for 5GHz 2600k @ ~1.5v

Thread Starter
Hi All,

I'm interested if anyone here has had a i7 2600k OC'ed to 5GHz or more at or close to 1.5v for 24/7 usage?

If so, how long have you had it running non-stop?

Has anyone had any negative experiences at these settings?

I'm thinking of upgrading my rig and hoping to achieve those levels of OC.

use offset voltage so you don't idle at 1.5v, just need to watch those load temps especially after a period of long gaming (BF3)

If you are adamant about hitting 5+ just wait for 2700K.

I am running ~1.4V on my 2500K and it's been perfectly fine for almost a year now. 1.5V seems a high for 24/7 use though. Definitely use offset voltages so that you're not pumping 1.5V through it all the time and make sure your cooling is up to par.

Thanks! I'm still in the Core2Quad era (see my signature)! I'll be using the same watercooling rig I got now. (also on signature)

I have read at a forum in Toms Hardware that the 2700k is the same chip as the 2600k with only an extra multiplier. Apparently everything else is the same internally. Only registered data for type of processor and ink of case is different. There are a few guys on that forum upset at Intel for what looks like a marketing and business stunt to fool people into buying the same chip re-branded with extra multiplier. If they are correct then the theoretical limits of OC on average will be the same as a 2600k with the same benchmark results on average assuming all other parts in rig are similar.

Excellent! This is the kind of stuff I want to see! No anomalies? BSOD? unexplained errors?
