BF3: 4gb system ram not REALLY enough - Page 9

I'm using 4GB and I think right now for the system I'm using, It's enough. I don't think more RAM would get me more FPS with the hardware I'm currently using. 35-45 on Ultra works for me.

How about some consistent memory usage reporting? People saying it uses up to 5GB on their system, others say it uses less than 2GB on theirs - no mention of settings or whether they are running 32 bit or 64 bit, and for the most part, no screenshots.
I was noticing around 90% usage when the game was running. That was with only bf3, origin and chrome open. I tested running the game with multiple pages and a couple word documents open which left me with about 2gb open...and unbearable lag. I have since purchased 8gb vengeance ram

The only explanation is that BF3 currently has a memory leak on certain configs. That thread I linked to a few posts above has Balla's screenshots. Evidence points towards a memory leak.
I've got 6 gb of ram, and maxed out (without AA), I eventually run into FPS dips and violent spikes. To see if it would make any difference, I lowered everything to medium; I had 400 MB free. I've got virtually nothing running in the background, aside from essentials. I doubt medium settings should eat up almost all of my 5 gb free.. seems like a memory leak. If I play on Ultra, I constantly have no free memory.

Running with 4GB for me is not enough. With Origin/Battlefield/Chrome running together and playing on Ultra my memory is capped and stuttering ensues, so much so that it becomes unplayable. That memory leak issue is all over the Battlelog forums and has progressed through Alpha and Beta. I believe it has the attention not only of AMD and NVIDIA's driver developers but also DICE. It's blatantly obvious. Just ordered some G.SKILL 8GB to see if it resolves my issues, it's on the cheap anyways and I was going to upgrade eventually.

Who cares about what your G15 says? Look at the OS itself. I never said you are lying... I said provide evidence and it is easy to do so... so do it. You went to law school..... you should know that you shouldn't believe people just because they said something.

If there is a memory leak, then more RAM will only help mitigate the issue.
Once again...

My resource monitor looks like that as well while playing. I ordered 8GBs yesterday. After I pop those in we'll see if that bar goes up. I seem to recall somebody going from 4gb to 6gb and seeing more memory used after the upgrade, it's using as much as it can get a hold of.

I have the same keyboard and my display on it tells me the exact same usage info as the resource viewer does in total usage. Private memory usage is showing well over 1.5gb of ram even up to 2gb at times. I am also running eyefinity which is causing VRAM to go over 2700mb. It is a pretty demanding game on resources it seems. If you pay attention to a lot of the others in this thread you will notice that they are having the same findings.

Just asked my buddy with 8gb and he was using over 4gb as well. 4gb is not enough right now, it might be once they fix the leaks.
