Are you serious? I really have to play BF3 from a browser!? - Page 5

I actually like battlelog. Its so convenient. The layout is very easy to work with and the way you can check on your soldiers stats is just WIN!

I did not know this either.

After hearing all the hype about it I have been thinking about getting it, but never knew it launched in a browser.
Do you have an active connection to play also? Does it require you to log in even if you have a physical disk?

I have never used Steam or Origin, I guess I just like having a physical copy.

It requires a connection to setup and as far as I know (correct me if not, please), it requires a sustained connection as well.
Says so on the box, I believe... biggrin.gif

My only complaint is that it takes longer to get into a game in BF3 than it ever did with BF2 and any of its expansions. I thought things were supposed to get faster with the advent of faster, better tech?

Yeah that kind of irked me as well. What really bugged me was that I battled with EA to gain access to my copy of Crysis I prepurchased back in the day. The end result was that since I did not save the copies of the discs that I made that they could not help me. They used to sell the right to download the game for like 5 bucks. Well I bought crysis on steam to have it again and in a safe spot. Well I load up origin, and there is crysis ready to download. Lame...

It's alright if it works! Yes it is DRM, very clever DRM that most people wouldn't recognize. I dislike how it makes BF3 feel like an app though, rather than a game. Several of the play4free games are launched in browsers, and I don't want to associate the cheapness with those games with the monster that is BF3.

I have yet to see how it fares going into "Offline mode" I doubt this game will be playable with no internet connection, even though it has a Singleplayer that has absolutely no need for it..

Just too bad I guess.

The more companies that implement this type of stuff and requiring constant/intermittent internet connections just to play a game in single player.... the less games I buy.

Good thing I enjoy using my PC for more than gaming. As a matter of fact it's the least thing I do with my PC, lol.

Was looking forward to this game, until Origin/browser became required. Good bye EA/Dice, it was really nice playing you... oh wait... clicks BC2 link on desktop....

bc2 had a battlelog, but it was already in the game.

having three seperate shortcuts just to run a game is rather cumbersome.

Er, I actually love it.

It is easier to maintain and more details. But it would sucks for people that requires RAM while the browser will eat some CPU and RAM usage.

What the vast majority of you fail to understand is that this really is the way of the future.

As an admin and someone that beta tests literally 50+ games a year...This is just the beginning of DRM.

The only complaint the VAST majority of you have is that it's a browser...Not that it's actually a DRM...Not that it's tracking your IP...Your S/N...Because it's doing so in an invasive manner.

If you don't like it...There are VERY FEW games you'll be enjoying in the future.

If only Ubisoft had EA's brain.

Is that the only thing it tracks? Other people were complaining about the privacy. But is it only the IP address and Serial number of the game?
