Need Help Trying to Figure out Why My system Is Freezing OC'd 2600k

Hi Everyone,

I am stuck trying to figure out if it is my overclock that's doing the bad deed or if it is something else. My 2600k is overclocked to 4.5 with P8Z68-V Pro using offset mode. Currently, LLC is set to High and offset is at -0.015. My voltage under load is 1.29. No problem with Prime95 for 12 hrs. I thought I am stable so I reinstalled Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit for a fresh start. I played BC2 for an hour with no problem. Funny thing is, computer freezes when I was just browsing internet and installing some programs. No BSOD, just frozen. Had to use reset button to restart. At first I thought it was Steam that was causing the computer to freeze, next thing I know, my computer will not shut off at it just stucks on the shut down screen forever. Sometimes my computer will be frozen for about 10 secs and move again, then freeze again. I have a WD green 1tb that's running raid 1. Currently there is nothing on the 2 hdds, would it be possible the raid 1 is causing the freeze? Thanks in advance!!

Did you disable the C3 and C6 states? When using offset they can cause BSOD at idle. They may cause freezing too, I'm not sure.

C3 and C6 are still enabled. Should I go ahead and disable them? I haven't BSOD once, just freezing

so I just passed 50 runs of IBT w/AVX and 4 hours of prime95 blend. everything seems to be fine. it seems like my system is freezing under light load or idling. while the system was running, I did some read up on disabling c3 and c6 to help with voltage when idling and light load freezing. are there any side effects when disabling c3 and c6 state? thanks

Freezing is usually low vcore, and since your offset is at -.015, it's probably undervolting it at idle loads. What voltage readings do you get in CPU-Z at idle?

There shouldn't be any side effects with disabling C3 and C6. I'd just leave them off since you're using offset. If it keeps freezing at idle, put your offset closer to a positive number so that it idles at a higher v-core.

Idling at 0.976-1.156 with CPU-Z. Should I set my LLC on ultra high and offset with -0.015 or should I leave LLC on high and -0.005? thanks!
