VID vs. Vcore

VID and VCore are different, right? Is my knowledge correct that VID is the VCore used by the CPU at stock frequency?

In that case, is it correct to assume that the VID reported by Realtemp is always constant and will not change even though I overclock my CPU? The only thing will change is the VCore reported by CPUZ when I increase it in the BIOS?

VID will change with vcore increase. basically VID is the amount of needed voltage shot into the cpu at starup. it will increase along with the overclock you are applying.

Oh ok. And VID is determined by the VRD12 (not sure of the term) table? That VID is constant for a specific multiplier or for a certain VCore? Usually VID is always lower than applied VCore?

The way I have read it, the core is programmed to ask for more depending on multi, but it can vary under load due to vdrop/vdroop. You can observe the difference, see what it is under load, then program your offset accordingly, if that's where you're heading with this.

I haven't done this myself, and could be wrong somewhere, but I've read it more than once and this is my understanding.

I have a similar question: right now I run with my matlab 55% load, and frequency is 4.3Ghz, the vcore in my cpuz as well as asus AI says 1.28V, but real temp shows VID 1.37. So which one is the voltage being supplied to the cpu? I'm confused b/c i think 1.28V is fine for vcore with multiplier 43 (I can lower the offset but it will kill the parallel processing of my simulation - w/o parallel processing, it runs only at 1.24V vcore)
What should I read these numbers as?
