Not seeing much from Tri SLI versus single GTX 470 - Page 2

Good to see that your 3-way SLI is working OK.

Here is a GTX480 2-way and 3-way SLI review:
http://www.guru3d.com/article/geforc...ay-sli-review/

Here is one for GTX570:
http://benchmarkextreme.com/Articles/GTX%20570/P21.html

After reading a bunch of these reviews, you will get a general feeling of the scaling power of 2-way and 3-way SLI of modern Nvidia cards.

PS If you have a Kill-a-Watt or similar device, would you keep a little record of the wattage used when you game and/or benchmarking? This kind of info is always useful for everyone.

Thanks for the review links! I haven't seen the benchmarkextreme one yet. That is a ton of info! Is that how you chose 570 SLI?

No Kill-a-Watt or similar device, but if I get one, I'll let you guys know.

Also, my PSU's power cord is thick like a jungle snake.

It seems strange you wouldn't see any benefit with a second card in Mafia II, not so much the other one, but Mafia II should respond to at the very least SLI, tri maybe not so much due to cpu limitations and scaling, but SLI should be noticeably faster than single.

I'd like to see your Heaven results too, I got 86.6 fps last time I tested (SLI), but I have two more gtx 470's waiting for me to decide what I want to do with them.

Edit: Is your cpu running stock, or is it overclocked?

hmm strange, i went tri sli a while back dropped it in and had a noticeable increase in fps in games. now that i look .. kinda similar rig to mine but anyways i was going to say maybe check the gpu usage across all three using msi afterburner and see if all the cards are being used.

Currently on my rig cpu OCed to 3.8 and gpu's at stock speeds getting around 80-100fps in BF3 and around 120fps in bf2 on highest settings. Might give an idea of where your tri-sli would be if you have those games

Balla and DNy, my 920 is at stock clocks except for the multiplier being at 21 making it a 930. My EVGA board demands the 21 multiplier and won't let me set it to 20 without the memory being downclocked to 1333. It's very fancy.

Water cooling is the last part I need before overclocking begins!

Yes, the Benchmarkextreme study is one of several reviews that my GTX570 SLI is based upon.

And, I expect my graphics subsystem (especially when I add a 3rd GTX570) will let me skip Kepler next year and get me well into Maxwell era.
My main concern is CPU bottleneck. When I add the 3rd card, I will need to further oc my i7 965 to possibly 4.4GHz region.

You'll see some more gains once your start to OC your CPU! But as Balla mentioned, weird that you wouldn't see much of a different in Mafia II, since that game is power hungry.

Hope those tri-470's work out for you! I know mine are great now

I can with ease wait until my 3 470s only provide an average gaming experience!

I love these three 470s. They're so much fun to use. The bottom one runs about 20 C cooler than the others, but I guess that's to be expected. I'm in the high 80s and low 90s C with the top two cards at about 60% fan speed.

I think your being bottle necked by your CPU man. Overclock it higher.

No offence, would you choose DREAM CAR or DREAM PC + ANY GAMES FOR FREE?
