Water cooling is the last part I need before overclocking begins!
Im guessing your using a D0 Steping chip,
i would set your multi at 19x,
bump your Vcore to 1.43-1.45V,
Disable intel SpeedStep
Disable Turbo Mode
And just smack that BCLK straight to 200

Should give a stable 3.8GHz straight up.

*dont forget to change your mem div's around for 1600Mhz its a 2:8 ratio (lol i dont think the newer boards use ratio's anymore)

I know I've got a CPU bottleneck because I'm tying 2-card 470 SLI setups with overclocked CPUs. Very sad, but I'm making sense of it.

CPU-Z tells me I have a D0 revision Bloomfield. I bought it used here:

Check out those overclocks on low temps and kind of low voltage!

I was gonna jump in and help ya here bud, but you got Windy helping you out, so I know you're in good hands. But I will say ... stick to benching w/newer stuff.

And you should basically always be able to tell if SLI is working via looking at GPU usage % in Afterburner ... if all three cards are getting roughly equal usage, 99% of the time it means you the have tri-sli love going on, and in most situations (esp. w/newer tests that are actually tough on the gfx cards) you should see at least 100% scaling vs a single card, sometimes even up to 140% or so on something like Heaven or Metro or 3dMark11.

Also, anything w/physX can behave a bit strangely, esp. Mafia 2 ... personally if you're actually going to play that game, I recommend running 2 in SLI and one for physX. That should actually give you the smoothest gaming experience on that particular game.

And definitely you want to OC that CPU. Tri-SLI adds a LOT of cpu overhead vs. a single card, plus you're looking at really high framerates w/all that GPU power ... both of which means you want as much CPU power as you can muster to feed those beasts w/data fast enough.

Glad you're enjoying the case, btw

Thanks!

I've been using three GPU-Z windows to track temps, fan speeds, and GPU activity. I can see that GPU usage across all three cards is almost 100% very often while I'm gaming, so I'm sure it's working. Mafia II is really strange, though.

I think it's because it's the Mafia II Demo and because I have Windows 8 Dev Preview. Maybe soon I'll go to Windows 7 again so I can really see what's up with the game. As far as 2 for SLI and one for PhysX, it's all or nothing. The control panel doesn't let me set two or three for SLI, though I guess I could see what happens with my two-card bridge instead of the 3-card one. Or just put in a different third card.

The CPU needs to be overclocked! I can hardly wait to start, but the heatsink I have now is just too quaint and dainty to do much of anything before water cooling is set up.

The case is absolutely awesome! I'm so glad I have it!

I was just now using the Heaven benchmark, shut it down, saw my desktop, and then my PC restarted. Now I'm on some generic Windows video drivers, and nVidia control panel won't start up because it believes my display isn't connected to an nVidia device. I think it's Windows 8 and not heat as the cards have been running at upwards of 91C under absolutely full load - no higher.

Anyone have issues with Windows 8 Dev Preview crashing and taking out the video drivers? I'm going to have to reformat to play Borderlands anyway, so I'm good to go as long as my video cards haven't kicked the bucket.

Hmm with 3-way sli just expect stupid random crashes to desktop in some games and the occasional reboot. (borderlands sometimes crashes for me)

few things to check, you have the latest drivers for your display? Sometimes after a BSOD windows will detect displays as Generic, try plugging and unplugging. if so to Control Panel\\Hardware and Sound\\Devices and Printers and if any generic displays update them

I read before that you were running the 280.xx drivers from nvidia lots of people had trouble with them, make sure you have the 285.35 or whatever it is. i think its WQRL cert but if not it might be in the beta drivers on the nvidia website.

EVGA may have a bios update out for your board if you havent already flashed it.

Borderlands can't even start so that it has the chance to crash. It just won't run.

I'll look for these updates, but I just turned on my PC and am running perfectly fine. It's very weird. I'm running 280.26 drivers, and I haven't updated that to 285.35. Definitely upon reformatting, I'll get the latest stuff.

Yes, I'm pretty much going to have to, but I do enjoy using the OS. It's just too bad I can't continue with the 8 Developer Preview.
