Thoughts on a Motorola Photon 4G Sprint - Page 2

Don't even bother with the Motorola Photon. If you want a Android phone and want to stay with Sprint, grab the Samsung Galaxy S2 (Epic Touch 4G)as you originally said or the HTC EVO 3D.

If you plan on rooting your phone like many others do with their Android phones and installing custom ROMS and etc, the Photon is absolute garbage in that department.

HTC is really good with their updates. Normally the first phones besides the Google Nexus line.

Couple things I hated immediately when using a Photon.
-Scrolling was not as smooth
-Photons Pentile (I think?) LCD was horrible, the calibration was beyond off.
-Orange looked like it was almost brown at times, and was very "grainy".
-Text was really hard to read when zoomed out.

Only used the phone for about a day, so I cant really say a whole lot about the battery life and such.

Galaxy S2 has huge backing from the community, so unless you're really worried about that issue I don't see why you shouldn't get the SG2

I've read the L.O.S issues & how Samsung doesn't support their phones when they're released. Such as bug fixes and even just basic updates. So far from what I've read at different Android forums the SGII & PHOTON have many pros & cons....which is why I'm so torn.....I'll eventually go back down to Sprint and play with both phones....as for the HTC 3D I wouldn't pay for a feature that I would never use which is the 3D......who knows I may just end up buying a HTC EVO....I have lots of time to decide....my upgrade on Sprint is good until the end of this year....I can upgrade 2 weeks early as well because of the premiere gold status thingy which Sprint will be ending at the end of this year.....

Samsung part is completely true, but with such a excellent community you shouldn't need to worry about that. As there will be ROMS that will have current Android releases.

HTC EVO 3D and the HTC EVO are completely different.

- Evo 3D runs a 1.2ghz Dual Core vs the Single Core
- Adreno 220 GPU
- 1GB RAM vs 512MB

Just a few things that show performance.

Like I said, there's no reason to even look at the Photon. The EVO 3D is definitely a better phone, plus a huge community to back it up.
