So Jumping the fence over to Intel next friday(4th)

Hi all gettin i5 2500k, Maximus iv Gene z, 8gb 1600mhz Corsair Vengence Ram,

So what am about to ask is over my current build what kind of performance improvements will i likely see ( i have a bad feeling about AMD thus decision to jump)

Also will i see better framerates in games like metro, and BF3

But worse in games like Shogun 2 and Stalker

the reason i say this is because Shogun and Stalker have AMD splass screens if i remember correctly.

Also do you think i would have to water cool 2 6950's @ stock, inside Fractal Design Arc Mini,
I plan on gettin H100 for the CPU

Now this is a bit off topic, but anyone a part of a bf3 clan with mics my copy comes in the post tomorrow but ill be able to play for 3 hours then i got work all weekend but ill be on it all next week xD

Also i am cleaning a basement for a friend atm, so i might not be too talkative for a little while
Thanks dom

EDIT: Also i might have a bit more money this month, so do you think its worth jumping up to the i7 or is gaming performance equal, in the case that there equal ill just save the money for my 2nd 6950 xD

is all ur doing is gaming just overclock that 955 to 4.4 i can get my there with the h100... and get new 6950 and ssd and more ram and new case and that will still be a nice gamin rig....

imo u already have amd 955 x4 just oc it and wait for ivy bridge processors if u really wanna upgrade......

and change ram to gskill ripjaws x 2x4gb kit instead of vengeance rams...

reason: vengeance memory chips r a mixed bunch of nanya(not gud) and hynix(gud),hence its a gamble of sorts...whereas gskill never uses nanya or low quality memory chips......

I went from a PII X4 955 BE to an i5-2500K (current sig rig), the FPS improvement in CPU-heavy games like SC2 was noticeable. I re-used my old components (previous RAM, previous GPU, previous SSD and HDD), and still received easily a 20-30 FPS jump in SC2 (maxed everything, 1080p).

If you can find it on sale, I'd go for it.

Hey now. Don't discourage him from coming to the Blue Team :] get a 2600k buddy, you'll love it. I ditched my 965 when I started working for the Blue team

i used to have a x4 965 and my i3 2100 feels as fast so a i5 should be a nice upgrade i would have thought. intel all the way you will wonder why u did not make the jump, sooner why wait the i5 should last you long enough
