Diesel for tanks that protect our national security is not exactly the problem here either man. The issue is the $6 trillion + Obama has spent on his social engineering pet-projects since he's been in the WH. Gotta love handing out billion dollar bailouts to his Union buddies at GM and Chrysler rather than funding fundamental space exploration at NASA....

(As an aside, a fair amount of the blame for this spending black hole we are in right now also goes to George W. Bush whose administration is responsible for the hopelessly inept TARP legislation we got saddled with as well as the initial bailouts...)

der der der is all have to say to that post.

we would not have most of the technological advances we do have today without nasa. you like Tang dont ya? if you havent had this your missing out lol. Teflon is another nice product.

here are some sites that tell why nasa is important:
link 1
link 2
link 3

and these are only a few of the advances nasa has done for us.

what has the IRS or the FBI done for us lately? what has our government done for us lately besides make the rich richer and the poor poorer and then spend all of our money on meeting their budget so they can get more money they probably wont need next year?

ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!

i know its not Obama's fault, not solely at least.

there is a new petition site for the government and i say we start a petition to keep NASA?

anyone in?

oh and as far as needing money, i know its only a drop in the bucket but:

those nice shiny presidential dollar coins they started a few years ago, they are not selling. they keep making more because an act of congress is required to stop the production. there are roughly $4+ billion of these coins in surplus. instead of taking a bill to congress to stop making them, they are going to spend another couple million to build a warehouse to store the coins while continuing to make them. talking about DUMB!

I dont see one mention of Obama except for in the title. The article even states Office of Management and Budget are the ones to blame and the Office of Management and Budget should find somewhere else to cut the money not NASA.
Despicable. I remember hearing some of his speeches in the past accentuate about putting a man on the Moon, to show the strength, resolve, and ingenuity of Americans. Guess we won't be having anything to that effect in the foreseeable future.

Because NASA would have thrived under an economic collapse like losing GM/Chrysler. Seriously, it's not an issue of "He spent money here and it should've been there", it's an issue of him cutting spending to an institution that doesn't need to be cut.

Without those bailouts, the economy will fail even more and there will be more reasons to hate Obama...i reckon its is a lose lose situation

When you spend more money than you have year after year eventually spending cuts HAVE TO BE MADE. Its just a matter of where the cutting needs to be. Every program under the sun will have somebody screaming that its a "vital program"....

I would not close it, but make it private funded.

Government needs to quit wasting money sending radiocontrolled cars to other planets and focus on its own country.

If a bunch of guys want to explore that, fund the explorations then. It's not a governmental issue.
