Sounds good. I guess I will consider doing this then.

Is it wise to buy a used/refurb WD scorpio blue/black off of eBay? Does WD usually have sturdy drives that don't fail easily?

This.
I believe a WD Black can be used, but to be honest. I doubt you'll see THAT much of a difference between the WD Blue and the WD Black on the 360. Though man, does it make things a lot quieter when you're playing games from the HDD.

I doubt I would buy a refurbished/used drive if I didn't know how much life / how many times it has been used etc. I'd want a SMART report from that drive before I thought about buying it.

If you went a page or two back, you'd see I mentioned the thread. Not to mention, OCN search is a bunch of fail.

Search isn't really a fail unless you use the Google search bar. Gotta use the search.php page.

I'm running a black 250GB and I can notice the speed differences occasionally. I'm always the first to load maps in MW2, as well as almost always get host now. Not sure if it's due to the speed change or network, but for some reason I want to say the HD speed has had a little to do with it. (My download speed hasn't ever been anything special)

I load BF3 maps quickly. If I was running off the CD, I would spawn and I'd have to wait 15 seconds or so until the game started. Now I get in the map and have to wait ~30 seconds. So I know that I load faster now.

The HDDHackr seems to be a nice solution, but i believe you can also connect the drive to a USB port with a external enclosure like this one.
Not sounds SO COOL solution but at least you dont have to use dirty hacks (in worst case, being afraid of MS to ban you)

Just cause you didnt buy the drive yet, i would recommend you to think twice about what use you gonna make of it.
For simple stuff like savegames, themes, game demos (and many other crap you get on the marketplace), you could just plug in a usb flash drive, unless you want to prefetch games to the HDD. (though a 16GB will do for a one or two games)
