PWM Fan splitter question

Just got 4 of these GELID fan splitters in the mail, and one of the cables only has 3-pin connections (2 out of 3 + 4th PWM pin).
In the 2 pics of these you can also see that there just isn't a 3rd 'cable' for the 3rd pin, so it's not like the pin fell off..

I have other non-GELID splitters, and they have 4-pin on both connections (pic attached).

Is this normal? am i missing something??

Having multiple RPM wires is pointless. GELID is doing it right.

you mean 3 wires is not necessary to get the full voltage to the fan? so why do we have 3-pin and not 2-pin fans??

The third wire just reports the speed the fan is running at. Running two of those signals into one wire causes inaccurate readings, so it's better to only have one RPM signal.

Also, two-pin fans work fine, but you won't get a RPM reading from one.
